ABOUT DOCTOR CO

Rhinoplasty is one of the most common operations performed by plastic surgeons. Framed or unframed glasses that rest on the nose bridge or the nose pad are what most of the rhinoplasty patients wear. Because of the swelling that occurs along the bridge after surgery, the weight of the glasses against the swollen skin can lead to redness, atrophy and also dents in the skin. The physical discomfort alone involved in wearing eyeglasses following surgery or injury often limits their use under these conditions.

There are many methods that can be employed to take pressure of the eyeglasses off the nose. Applying a tape around the eyeglass bridge, and attaching the tape to the forehead is one such method, as it raises the eyeglasses off the nose. But the technique has been questioned because it is unattractive, and the perspiration produced by the skin loosens the tape and the eyeglasses frequently slip down necessitating repetition of the procedure. It also causes problems with the refractive error of the patient. Elevating the eyeglasses causes the patient to look below the optical centers of the lenses, producing a visual disturbance and vertical imbalance in the refractive error. It consequently produces an equilibrium disturbance, and hinders the patients’ performance. Also, the older bifocal wearer, who must look through the bottom or reading portion of his lenses, may experience disturbance with distant vision.

For the elderly, atrophy and thinness of the nasal bridge skin necessitate the use of eyeglasses that do not contact the nasal bridge. Their nasal skin thins out and tends to gravitate. The nasal pads of ordinary eyeglasses pull the lax skin downward on the bridge, and thus creating folds of skin that cause cosmetic problems. Younger users also may be concerned with such issue.

Eliminating contact between the nose and the eyeglass bridge is necessary when there is an inflammation of the nasal pad area due to constant pressure and rubbing of the area. Holding the eyeglasses slightly away from the nose allows the affected area to rest, and still permits normal visual function for the patient. However, this is only temporary.

There have been a variety of additions to glasses for various purposes throughout the years. There are techniques that require use of adhesives, which provide eyeglasses with abbreviated frames lacking the usual eyeglass arms. Such devices do not satisfy the need of separating the ordinary prescription eyeglasses from the nose while maintaining the vertical alignment of the vision. They also require separate lenses, which can be an unnecessary financial burden. Therefore, a very low cost device, which can facilitate normal eyeglasses to be worn without disrupting the wearer's vision, is in need.

Doctor CO eyewear provides ultralight, pressure-free glasses that is made for patients who have recently gone through nose surgery. Designed by a doctor, the beta-titanium glasses offered by Doctor CO eyewear redistributes the pressure of the glasses from the nose to cheeks. Not only is it a perfect alternative to the conventional methods for patients who had rhinoplasty, it is also loved by many professionals such as doctors and office workers who uses glasses throughout the day.
